ARTIST'S STATEMENT:
Thank you for viewing my work ~ I enjoy creating art in a variety of mediums, including pencil, watercolors and pastels. I took my first formal art class on Guam when I was ten, went to a high school so small that no art classes were offered, and eventually received a B.S. degree in textiles with a minor in art from Michigan State University. Over the years, I have studied drawing, painting, calligraphy, stone sculpture, weaving, computer art and computer animation, while making a living as a geologic drafter and then as an architectural stone drafter. For the latter, I worked on the plaza at Williams Square in Las Colinas in Irving, Texas and on Canary Wharf in London.

My first studies in pastel were with Wanda Gamble in Smithville who was often accompanied in her instruction by Glenn Whitehead - they are both wonderful and generous teachers. I have attended workshops with Cara Reische, Will Klemm, Susan Carlin, Richard McKinley, Bob Rohm, Claudia Seymour, and Liz Haywood-Sullivan. I have learned a great deal from my friend and painting cohort, Jo Castillo . Since 1998, I have enjoyed being a member of several art guilds, and am past president of the Bastrop Fine Arts Guild and the Carolina Artists Guild, am a current member of the Austin Pastel Society, the Texas Pastel Society, and am past Secretary of the Creative Arts Society in Austin.

If you have any questions about my work, or about pastels in general, I'd be glad to respond.

I am grateful for so many things ~ family, friends and the beauty available for us to enjoy every day.
