Ahhhh, W.C. Fields.. thank you, my little chickadee, for letting me know, and Mr. Gene too. I've been wondering for a couple of years what those birds were and couldn't find them in my book or online. Doesn't sound like they are a rarity. I'd forgotten your birding background, Leslie, and the owls you used to invite over. We've had painted buntings once in a while, but not last year.

I heard rumor that Carolina birds can be found in Texas :)
It is a boy chickadee.
The "Pips" on the left are sparrows...maybe rufus crowned, boy and girl, and the "Pip" on the right...my good guess is a female lesser finch.
Peterson Field Guides to Birds are great.

Hi,
Gene says the black and white looks like a Caroline Chickadee to him.

The pips look like wrens with the one on the right like a Carolina Wren. Hmmm.

Nice photos, Larry is getting great with the camera.
