Sherrie - black paper seems to add a lot to certain still lifes, and I like doing light or colorful objects against a black background.

Thank you, Vivienne and Paulette - it did kind of end up that way, but I like how you described it, with the sepia and faded aspect.

Just wonderful that you did this on black paper. It is amazing at how the medium changes the feel and look.

I love this one, Regina. To me it has an olde worlde quality ... sort of sepia and faded photos and memories of times past.
(Hope the 'flu has disappeared and you're feeling better.)

Kari - I've done a few things on black paper, and actually didn't like this one as much as some others. I did an onion a while back that I like better. (http://www.fallshadows.com/spicey.html) Your watercolor was just amazing!

Ann - thank you for your comments - I think next time I may try a lighter background like you did - yours was so lovely.

Andy - Thank you! I usually like the black paper, but couldn't bring the color up on this as much as I wanted to. But overall, I liked the final piece. And your colored pencil tomatoes look wonderful!

Jeanette - Thank you for your comments - it was more muted than a lot of the pieces that came out of this study - I loved looking at all of them.

Sorry I couldn't get back on to respond to everyone's nice comments - the cold/flu I had all last week keeps trying to come back and get me!

Thank you Melissa for your comments on my blog - I enjoyed looking at yours also, especially your (first!) colored pencil animal portrait - it was great and the black on blue was very interesting!

This is lovely. It has a quietness to it that really speaks about the flowers.
