Here are parts of a painting I started and didn’t like the “whole” of. I wanted to do a pastel with teal and copper as the main colors but couldn’t make it what I wanted it to be. I keep telling myself that art is not always about playing it safe. I’m just reluctant to post something I don’t really like – but it was an experiment and I can re-use the Ampersand pastel board. And I may also re-use the effect in the top section in some other work.
And here is a pretty cardinal I was able to photograph today. We are lucky to have so many in our back yard.

Beautiful bird.
The parts of the painting are great. It makes me think it was all good. Did you cut the painting, or just crop the photo??

Jo – You’re too kind. I just cut the photo. Now I’ll re-use the Ampersand board and maybe re-use the texture design in the top section when I do another painting down the road.

I have to agree: the pieces of the painting are very nice.
And, very nice bird shot.

Joanna – Thank you – with Jo’s suggestions, I may try some changes to see if it is salvageable. I really like the background on the photo of the bird – it would be fun to paint that!

Lots of bokeh in that photo.

Joanna – Bless your heart – I never even knew there was a word for that – I looked it up on the off chance it was not something you had made up…
and here it is: a Japanese term for the subjective aesthetic quality of out-of-focus areas of a photographic image.
Example: The bokeh, or quality of the blurred image in the photograph, was described and discussed.
Thank you! Now if I can just remember this word, since it is something I’ve always loved.
