I love Austin.   I moved here back in 1975 when there were two tall buildings downtown, the black one and the gold one.  I worked in the gold one on 6th street, three blocks west of Congress. I went shopping at Scarbroughs and Yarings and Snyder-Chenards, had lunch at Woolworths and at Piccadilly Cafeteria on Congress, and partied at the Armadillo where my brother worked.  Austin had a population of about 300,000 back then.  Austin was Eeyore’s Birthday Party at Pease Park on Lamar, Aqua Fest on Town Lake, and art classes at Laguna Gloria. Austin is my hometown, even though I didn’t find it until I was grown.

These are great photos. You are right, Austin is easy to fall in love with. You should paint that night scene! Later….

Hi, Jo and Joanna – I do love Austin. It gets way too hot sometimes (for a long time!), but it’s an oasis here in Texas. I did start a night time painting yesterday, from a similar night photo of the same night. Thank you!

Karen – That is so nice and I very much appreciate it!! You really put a lot of time and thought into both your list and the comments on your post for this – http://karenhargettsfineartjournal.blogspot.com/2009/09/kreativ-blogger-award.html – I will always think of you now when I hear a horse chew. :-) I agree – very peaceful.
