(Tomorrow’s Sunrise, Pastel, 1999)
Even though my schedule has been totally full with working on taxes, cleaning a new house, and getting ready to move out of our current house in just a week, I still think about art all the time. What to paint next, what workshop I hope to take, what art events are coming up…. one thing I was thinking at 3 a.m. yesterday was about becoming a better artist. Not better than someone else, just better than I am today. I think the talents we are given are a gift to us from God and how we use them is a gift back to God.
What I was thinking at 3 a.m. was, that I want to become good enough as an artist, so that God might stick one of my pictures on His refrigerator.

Thanks so much, Vanessa. Those 3 a.m. thoughts can come across as odd – but, as you said, sincere.
