Weaving music and art together
March 24th, 2011 · No Comments
A fellow artist, Vanessa Turner, had a recent post on her art journal about playing music while she paints – she has some wonderful posts on her site, both helpful and thought-provoking.
I also love to listen to music while I paint. It helps get in a more ’soulful mood’, I think, and translates into a better painting, hopefully. Sometimes I put my I-Pod on shuffle just to see what comes up, and at other times, I choose music that fits my mood or the piece on which I am working: Randy Newman for colorful pieces; for clouds, one of my favorites is an opera album my brother sent me which has Puccini’s Flower Duet (such a beautiful piece with voices interweaving like birds flying together…); Aretha Franklin for blues or if I want to dance and paint , Lyle Lovett for humor and a good beat; and John Fogerty if I want to just dance….
A spring day, music and art. Perfection.

Friends of Orion – new e-book
February 26th, 2011 · No Comments
After years spent in solitude, Ben is surprised to encounter Orion, a red-tailed hawk, and two young children who also share his telepathy. But he must continue to hide his ability when he meets Sara Martin, an attractive veterinarian who prizes science and practicality above all else. Once she discovers his gift, Sara faces a struggle between her growing feelings for Ben and her fear of his unusual talent.
But this strange town holds another revelation for Ben when he overhears a mental conversation between the Lancers – as members of an ancient sect who have perfected their power over many generations, Brigid and Coyle Lancer become determined to stop Ben’s growing curiosity – by any means necessary.

In addition to creating art, the other thing I’ve loved to do in life is writing. About twenty years ago I started a book, finished it in 2000, revised and rewrote for several more years, and have now published it as an e-book on Amazon.com and at Barnes & Noble). It is a contemporary fantasy about an artist who has telepathy and the challenges he faces – you can read more or purchase for $2.99 at the link above!

Today..tomorrow.. at last!
February 22nd, 2011 · 2 Comments
In 1988, I started writing a book – it began as a pastime while living in Waller, Texas where we lived for two years and didn’t know anyone. Over the years with family and friends reading and reviewing it, I finally finished the first draft in 2000. After a few more revisions and the standard submissions to publishing companies and literary agents, I am going to e-publish my book. The thing is, I still enjoy reading it, and hope that others will too. I’ve always loved to write and it is really fun just as painting is fun.
